The article makes several good points but I'd have to disagree with the no overtaking rule. Taking the human out of the equation, vis a vis 'IRobot' style, where road travel is managed by computer seems like a more viable option in the long term. There have been several advances in this technology, from MIT especially (Google 'Self driving car', do you really expect me to divert from this tab for you?)

Could you elaborate on this? How extensively do you use it's combined features and what would you change about it? I'm currently living a life of no mobile phone whilst weighing up my options. I'm heavily skewed towards the G1 and need tipping either in its direction or the forthcoming n97.

A double edged sword - creating methods of 'too easy' submission will most definitely lead (in my opinion) to a downgrading of quality. I've been on HN, not on this username, since the first link from Reddit when it was a few months old it's grown relatively slowly but has attracted a core of decent members who submit. However on the other hand it's necessary to improve quantity of submissions. I'm trying to stop going to Reddit & Digg altogether but it's hard when the update traffic is light years ahead.
You have to make a decision at some point - keep this place on the 'down low' with fewer submissions or break it up a bit.
Check out Freecycle.org. They are linked to Yahoo now so you need a yahoo account but i find the service quite good. However it isn't good enough to find something specific you are looking for - essentially it's hit and miss.
