Xively | Technical Lead / Full Stack Developer | Boston | ONSITE | fulltime
As a Technical Lead for Xively's Professional Services, you'll be working directly with clients to build “Things” for the IoT. We like engineers that are passionate about architecture, managing development teams and delivering mind-blowing solutions for clients to help change the world through IoT.
Want to help save the world by decreasing fuel use and increasing efficiency of renewable energy through the data we get from connecting devices? Want to help save your late-night snack routine by having your fridge inventory its contents and automatically renew what you tend to use up? Want to do both of those things on the scale of millions of devices being connected at all times? These are the types of technical challenges you would be faced with as a Technical Lead with Xively.
Typescript, React, Redux, React Native, Kinesis, Lambda, Postgres, and more

I don't have a specific idea or non-profit in mind, but as a developer (professional, 10+ years experience making web applications and a few on mobile) that has been working on hobby projects for a long time I have been looking to use my skills to better the world in some way for quite some time.
I would like to offer my services to help build this app (free of charge of course).
async / await allows you to choose how async you want your code to be/look, and I for one like to have a choice as opposed to say other languages that don't always have an async option.
Xively (subsidiary of LogMeIn) is an IoT platform with best of breed messaging, one of the first connected product management apps and coupled with a lot of fun goodies like an identity management system, integrations with AWS, SFDC, etc.
We are looking for a senior engineer to architect client solutions and get teams (including him/herself) to implement them. The stack we use is Typescript, React/Redux, NodeJS with a lot of AWS services. Pay is great but the projects are the real draw.
Why don't more web guys use MQTT for pub/sub live data? I saw the PubSubHubBub in the comments already, but most devs are still shoe-horning HTTP into solutions that really aren't request/response based
also, MQTT has a "retain" flag that lets a publish linger on a topic to be read later, even when the publisher has gone offline. Seems like "shadows" is a fancy name for what MQTT already gives you.
