We are looking for an experienced back-end developer to help us design and implement the server-side solution for a quantified-self web application.
The major goals of the app (to be completed by the developer) are as follows:
- Design and implement (in collaboration with front-end developers) an API for data communication.
- Receive data from the device and store on the server.
- Run data analysis scripts (written in Python) on the received data and save the results in a database (MongoDB). The Python scripts are written by the data analysts and will be provided.
- Add transaction logging capability to the server.
- Help us decide on the best strategy for log data analysis.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of web app development and delivering results reliably.
- We would prefer to do the development using Python web frameworks (Django or Flask), but this is not a firm requirement.
- Experience with SQL and MongoDB.
- Provide progress updates and results on a regular basis.
This work is an ongoing collaboration between Rochester Institute of Technology and industry on a quantified-self device and provides a very good opportunity to expand your portfolio.
