BUILD's mission is to use entrepreneurship to excite and propel disengaged, low-income students through high school to college success. BUILD serves students that are at highest risk for dropping out of school. By helping disadvantaged students start up and run their own small businesses, BUILD supplements traditional school with real-world professional experiences, academic support, and 21st century skill-building. All of BUILD's business and academic activities foster student proficiency in 21st century skills that research shows prepares students for college and the workforce. Although BUILD now also has programs in Washington D.C. and Boston, it was started right here in the Bay Area.
