Modi is strong candidate for PM post from the eyes of general public. BJP is reluctant to project him as PM candidate as there are many incapable and corrupt leaders without mass base eyeing for the post.India requires Modi like PM for real competitor to China and all round economic growth of India.
I think you should give BJP more credit...they know they can't win 272 lok sabha seats...and with Modi as their PM candidate they will (most probably) not get the support of their NDA allies (Nitish in particular). In addition, your last comment about economic growth is just not true. My 2 cents.
