I wish that a good YouTube competetor probes up and take away all famous creators.
I just want to avoid watching spam and bad tutorial videos.
Any generic UGC video hosting sites that is the size of YouTube, will be ended up like YouTube.
A lot of the creators I follow seems to be on Nebula. It's basically a coop competitor to Youtube Premium (at least it is my understanding that all creators on nebula owns a share or a stake).

Perhaps Patreon can find a niche here by letting people sponsor alternative hosting (on Patreon) for the content they want to support.
If only there is a competitor that allows real time comments like Niconico

I don't think the platform will decline. I do think a lot of critics don't realize what youtube considers itself. It's not a video hosting platform. It's a Netflix and Cable TV competitor. It's Via Play - a collection of channels and programs.
YouTube doesn't consider itself the home of your homevideos. It's the home of "content creators" - indie TV programs. The whole "upload your video from your Zoo trip" is just their gateway for getting potential creators feet wet.

We need widespread adoption of something like Peertube yesterday.
I sincerely doubt it. How many tens of "universally disliked changes" have Google made over the last fifteen years? In the end, everybody sucks them up, because outside of a few very specialized use cases, there is no alternative.
YouTube and other platforms are so aggressive in their moderation/censorship that what we really need to succeed them is something decentralized, rather than a transition to a different centralized master.

I love Peertube, but I'm always concerned to see just how small the team behind it is. I'm hoping LBRY gets more adoption, just in case Peertube gets knocked off for good.
I am not sure I entirely understand LBRY and its relation to Odysee. I see an explanation at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LBRY but it feels confusing for a newbie.
My limited understanding is that LBRY is the protocol its self, Odysee is the front-end developed by the devs. I'm not a great fan of Odysee its self, as the owners aggressively follow any DMCA or takedown request, regardless of legitimacy. But the capability for self hosting, as far as I am aware, is there, unhampered.
