No doubt: open source it. It will benefit more people and it is better than shutting down or getting pennies for it.

Without better info about your "project" (what it does, who uses it, how far it is from completion or a 1.0 style release, etc.) it's hard to give a useful recommendation.
My guess is that if you've been dabbling with a lot of projects none of them are likely to be very robust yet. The fact that you are going to concentrate on one of them (and it's not THIS project) leads me to believe it likely has minimal value.
Barring better info in your question, I would say either:
1) Just open-source it and be done with it
2) Auction it off and donate the funds to something like the EFF (you might get more attraction this way and get a higher price. If the price got high enough you might be able to use it as resume padding (Built and sold webapp for 5 figure sum)).
