So a while ago when the hyperloop college senior contest thing concluded I made the remark that the winning design was both slow and incapable of carrying anything. Which tod222 followed up by pointing out that they had also dropped the air bearing/pneumatic propulsion part as well (which was the only mostly novel thing about the idea in the first place) and had just made a maglev in a tube then went to on say "It wouldn't surprise me if the tube disappeared in the next iteration".

So here we are.

I'm not sure you understand phases in product development. If you're out to build an innovative product, you usually don't start off trying to build the finished product right off the bat. The first few phases may not look like the product envisioned at the beginning. This is smart product development.

Note that this is a vc funded company, it's not the maglev from MIT
