I wouldn’t call them “stupid technically”, but assuming that there was a hard limit to codec efficiency and to internet bandwidth would at least make them technically naive in my opinion.
I can’t help but mildly cringe when I read sentences like “the X that shouldn’t exist”, for example when applied to the Antikythera mechanism. It’s a weird way to mask our ignorance about the item being discussed.
Again, the original thread said “The industry should avoid single points of failure”. Neither Apple (Mac) nor Google (Chrome) represent single points of failure for the industry.
Care to elaborate how the choice of a person’s equipment and browser relates to GitHub constituting a single point of failure for the industry as the prevalent Git hosting tool?
It feels as if JavaScript (and its ecosystem) has left us all with PTSD that makes us unable to appreciate the comedy on this post. So much “serious” discussion around a funny piece. Feel free to dissect it as you may, but keep in mind its true intent: humour.
