Now you've introduced either a caching problem or a data subscription with a myriad of other trade-offs and I don't think either of those are less trouble than bluetooth.
I am of the opinion that NFTs on OpenSea are equally uncool and worthless as any other NFT marketplace including ones created on your local machine in secret.
It's value deprecates over time though, as it's market efficiency drops relative to newer cards.
Your return on the opportunity cost is maximized if you can do work closest to the time the card was acquired.
If you buy a card and leave it in the box for 10 years you have not 'consumed' the card, but you have wasted a few hundred dollars.
From an electricity and financial perspective if you have valuable work to do, your costs are minimized if you do that work closest to the purchase date.
This is obvious if you have a significant workload, but maybe not as obvious if you are running CAD.
Is the cost of a new card worth the time saved by the new card?
Significantly more efficient if you can keep it busy.
In Canada, mail in ballots have a separate, earlier deadline.
If you do not mail your ballot on time, there is another simple solution, you go to the (lineless) polls on election day.
When they check everyone in they confirm that they have not already received a mail-in-ballot from that individual before allowing you to the booth.
With enough time allocated for mail-in-ballots, I feel that it doesn't matter that the deadline is earlier.
Deadlines are fairly arbitrary either way and at some point you need to select a winner.
If you have plenty of opportunity to vote and you do not vote by the deadline, your vote is not counted regardless of the method you have chosen.
Or you could see it as the often-overlooked perspective of an immigrant with a successful business in a traditional industry who is witnessing and exposing the absurdity of the valley capital bubble.
They were also acquired at a price which would value each employee at ~350M.
They were capable of scaling in a way that is certainly an anomaly, and not indicative of the costs of an ordinary team.
It speaks volumes about what the right talent and architecture/technology choices can do if leveraged successfully, but is more of an interesting anecdote than a realistic infrastructure budget.
