This does NOT happen with Finnish tax rate. Your marginal tax rate can jump but that only for the euros after that bump. Your total tax rate goes up in more slowly. You’re always better off with the extra euro of income.

Out of the examples, aerospace engineering was helped by many government interventions such as war-time buying and development of titanium working.
On the other hand, it's also hindered by government regulations making all new development much more expensive than what it could be.
I'd think all the industry segments would exist as the do provide clear benefits to everyone but the development paths taken could be different from what they're now.

On chat applications: In Finland no one used AIM and everyone used messenger.
I suspect this was the norm also elsewhere in Europe.
I am talking about Messenger 4.6 that came built in with windows xp and its later versions, not the business version.

I found the article interesting as I've just started to work in US corporation and I've wondered how achieving specific diversity goals are achieved in cases there is a very limited pool of people to hire / promote in a select subgroup.
I would expect print-debugging to change the behavior in such cases too.
Usually writing to stdout is behind some synchronization so using print debugging will drop performance and make program less parallel.
I think most of the companies are selling the vaccine quite cheaply.
Moderna and Pfizer are asking for 15-20 $ / person for vaccine that has value of thousands of euros.
Which, as Eliezer notes, is part of the problem. That together with flexible delivery schedules in agreements mean that companies have little extra resources and incentives to invest in fast vaccine production.
