As a crypto fan, who is desperate for good regulation, I should be delighted by this weird gesture.

But… anything that your president does with crypto will be forever tainted and may well be immediately revoked by his successor. The backlash may even swing further in the opposite direction to whatever the Clarity Act contains.

If it has the backing of the WH and the crypto industry then it is definitely not going to be regulating the right things or have meaningful teeth.
