Is it not still blocked, or at least under heavy scrutiny? I would also dread Figma being folded into Adobe's bloated ecosystem. Thank god for penpot as mentioned in another comment as I would need an alternative if Figma does indeed get taken over by Adobe.
The real magic is found in Apple charging 690 EUR for an upgrade to 2TB from 512GB on a MacBook Pro (0.43/gb), or 2760 EUR for 8TB (0.37/gb). Considering the 2TB 980 pro for $160 USD, (0.08/gb), it always truly pains me to pay the Apple tax.

The Foundation pays 6 developers to work on PHP" which made me realise how easy it is to take for granted the development and maintenance of these open-source languages and ecosystem as a whole.
Say what you will about PHP, but we all rest on the shoulders of the incalculable effort that goes into the software we use everyday without thinking twice, and is something I'm very grateful for.
For me the main barrier has been convincing my family to actually take password management seriously. My entire family has had their emails hacked at least twice due to poor/reused passwords that have been in leaks, constantly forget IDs/passwords, and are constantly overwhelmed with the idea that they need to keep track of all these things.
I've set up a 1password family and set up accounts/vaults on everyone's computers/phones/tablets, yet they still find it too troublesome to use rather than simply writing passwords down in plaintext on their notes apps or just on sticky notes attached to their computers etc...
If anyone has had success encouraging family to use a password manager I would love to hear any tips, as I've sat my family down every holiday season to reset everyone's forgotten passwords and walk them through everything, practice creating/saving/using passwords and within a day it's all forgotten again. Like backups, I feel like no one takes it seriously until something truly horrible happens.

One of the more interesting things I've felt about web3 is the idea of portable identities not being locked to centralized account management systems/walled gardens. This applies to tokens as well - eg, an asset that is no longer locked in to a particular game and could be used anywhere on chain. I'm thinking of MMORPGs having their servers shut down. It's interesting to imagine these things existing beyond the games themselves. I'm not a gamer (nor a collector of anything really), but I could imagine how interesting it would be to hold on to one's relics from these games, bringing them into new virtual worlds, even passing them down like family heirlooms. It seems like something that was often dismissed until the NFT boom lent some credence to the notion that digital artifacts need not be entirely disposable. Be it better or worse for the world, ultimately it really is a bizarre but fascinating experiment/exploration into our ideas of value and provenance.
I wanted a simple to use, easy to deploy tool to send sensitive data to clients. I was often using onetimesecret which is great, but still felt wary of trusting a hosted service for these things. While they have indeed open sourced their code, I wanted an even simpler/easy to deploy version (just php7/apache) that is also e2e encrypted. I hope this could be useful to others.

In Regensburg, Germany, there is a restaurant that has essentially been operating for 850 years since the construction of the Steinernen (Stone) bridge was constructed in 1146 AD, and in its precise/current form as a sausage restaurant since 1806. It's really incredible to see the longevity of a simple business like this and be able to eat where entirely different generations ate for almost a millennium (Plus the food is honestly remarkably good if you eat meat). There are only three things on the menu: sausage, sauerkraut and potato soup and together they make a very nice meal :)
I learned about this from the book "Humble Pi: A Comedy of Maths Errors" by Matt Parker. Apart from the bolt length, the process of finding and matching bolts was broken, and the windshield, if fitted from the inside (plug type) would not have blown outward.
It's also a reminder of how we're engineering a world where human intuition alone cannot resolve these minute differences. It's a particularly scary thing in these high risk/high responsibility situations that there aren't endless fail-safes in place (think air max, challenger etc)

I had to tackle this problem as well for a small project and found that I could just send a GET request to https://www.cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace and parse the response with a simple regex: /loc=(\w*)$/gm
Although not exactly relevant I remember reading that some devs at google were looking to mainline Magic Trackpad Support because I was so disappointed in the trackpad functionality on a brand new laptop with Linux installed, I was planning to just carry a Magic Trackpad everywhere. It really is a world of difference, the way the Mac trackpads feel in comparison.

Actually I feel almost any component in general sadly. I had to replace the front camera assembly as well and after trying almost four different parts from multiple vendors and none match the quality of the original.
Another thing I learned is that Apple would replace the entire display and front assembly (front camera, earpiece, speaker, brightness sensor, proximity sensor) for only ~ $150. However, due to the third party battery they couldn’t work on it anymore.
I replaced an aging battery on my 6S Plus a few months ago myself and installed iOS 11 at the same time (figured it was a good opportunity to do both together).
Immediately I noticed my phone was basically unusable, incredibly slow, everything was crashing or locking up completely, I couldn’t believe it. I thought iOS 11 was the culprit, and even did a complete reinstall without restoring any backups to no avail. Finally, I noticed a slight dark spot on the LCD - the brand new battery I had bought was already bulging and in bad shape.
I sprung for a better quality battery from ifixit and immediately the phone was running like brand new again. I thought the cheap battery had been supplying an unstable current, but perhaps there is indeed an issue with the software itself.
One key thing I realized - ANY battery work done outside of Apple’s official repair means they will never work on your phone again. So if you care about having Apple do any kind of work on your phone (even if totally unrelated to battery), you will have to get it replaced by them.
This is an incredibly frustrating thing with the way OS X handles encrypted disk images as well. Needing to share confidential documents with coworkers, we were hoping to store them in an encrypted disk image. (GPG proved way too complex for anyone to adopt) Of course, the standard OS X GUI prevents you from pasting a password when mounting, which of course led to coworkers resorting to short, easy to type, easy to remember (and easy to crack) passwords.
The best solution I found was to mount via the command line but that definitely wasn't an option for any coworker unfamiliar with the terminal.
Also while this may be ultra paranoid, I really don't like typing passwords in public places where endless he cameras can record my screen and keystrokes.
