But even your example gets worse with AI potentially - the "upsell" of his blog isn't paid posts but more subscribers so there will be thankful readers, a few donators, people talking about it. If the only interface becomes an AI summary of his work without credit, it's much more likely he stops writing as it'll seem like he's just screaming into the void
I think the hard part with these ai models is it’s kind of hard to figure out how many tokens you’re going to use, especially as a new user. 4,000 tokens sounds like a lot for instance, but is tiny
I think Heroku has a right to charge what they're charging but the price is really the only con for Heroku. It definitely isn't the cheapest service out there by miles so if someone could make a Heroku that's cheaper, that would be a huge improvement

As an FYI, most of the newspapers’ dream places/best places to work are bought and paid for by companies’ PR departments - it’s not a meritocratic competition and afaik, they rarely actually conduct polls or ask real employees. At best they’ll take a glance at Glassdoor rankings

Hi HN! When integrating with some APIs (specifically for auth flows), many will require a callback URL and unfortunately frequently don't allow localhost. This is annoying for local development and usually requires paying for ngrok and using a tunnel to get around that restriction.

It actually is going to be fantastic as a consumer. Since people are cutting cable and going to Netflix, the money for content has to come from somewhere - it’s not sustainable to get unlimited quality content for everyone for $12/mo. If new streaming services didn’t appear, the only new content we would eventually have would be Netflix Originals - and if that’s all you want, you can continue just subscribing to Netflix! With Disney+ and others, it gives companies incentives to create great new content. There’s no chance we would have gotten say, the Mandalorian, on Netflix

I think a more convincing argument would be citing # of transactions or use cases (store of value, cheaper way of sending large amount of money or money internationally, etc.)
Right but to fully understand what's going on you need to also visualize the physics in a 3D world - just dots and lines and squares wouldn't fully show what's going on. This may be close to the simplest visualization that made sense
