Dismissing this guy's tutorial because he didn't clone Facebook is kind of short sided. Everything is about trade offs. You don't need to make your React app isomorphic if you don't mind a slower initial load and lack of SEO. You don't need to use Mongo, you can pass data from your RDBMS directly to your components as props when you render server side or have them call your REST API using an isomorphic request library. You don't need to use ES6 if you use something like webpack and babel.
Moderation on 4chan and /b/ has increased over the last year. Mostly to prevent the posting of peoples personal information. But the posting of shock images has also decreased. I don't know if they are being removed as well.
I've never seen a single site that uses Google login over Facebook. Facebook also owns mobile login on the iPhone. Google is closer to shutting down Google+ than winning any war with Facebook.
The ciriticism is that malaria is just a symptom of the larger problem of a lack of economic growth and development. Aid can save a child from malaria, but it will never solve the underlying problem.
Plenty of spies on all sides have been killed and jailed over the years. If a country can prove a specific person committed a crime. But that's a lot harder to do with tech crimes.
"Facebook sells your data" was always a stupid charge. Why would they give away their most valuable asset when they can make more money by renting indirect access to it (targeted ads). There are actual data brokers who do sell your data and none of them make anywhere near what Facebook makes. Facebook actually has an incentive to protect your data.
Literally in every Facebook post there is someone saying how their Facebook feed is a mess and how Facebook is "declining." I'm sorry to tell you this, but it's you and the people you are friends with that are the problem. Not Facebook (all of their metrics and revenues are up). Try being friends with more interesting people (or at least mute the bad ones).
