Similar experience here. I went to a new dentist who had one of those machines and he told me I needed at least nine fillings. I declined and found someone else. Over 16 years and multiple moves/new dentists since then, maybe three of those teeth have actually needed fillings.
The detector is made of thousands of light sensors arranged in a a km-scale 3D grid. When a neutrino interaction causes a flash of light inside this volume, multiple sensors detect the photons with nanosecond-level time resolution. So a 3D map can be made of where the light started and how it moved over time.
For a macroscale analogue, imagine a large 3D grid of microphones all recording sound. If you fired a cannon from inside this grid and looked at the waveforms from all the microphones, you could work out where the cannon was, and also form a pretty good guess of what direction it was pointed.

A local hobby shop sold a kit with ten bits, 1.0mm down to 0.1mm, which I bought on a lark several years ago.
The middle sized bits are occasionally useful to (carefully!) finger-drill a tiny hole through a plastic part. They're rigid, very sharp, but pretty breakable if you're not careful.
The 0.1mm bit is so small that it's upsetting even to look at. I've never taken it out of the case.

I have a little experience with both the old and new Supermicro stuff. The new x10 IPMI experience is a lot like the old x9 java app experience, except you don't have to dig out an ancient computer to make it work. (Which feels great by comparison!)

Your ship moves freely in all directions, and your speed is proportional to the square root of the number of independent directions you're moving in. Fly forward, speed is one unit; fly forward + sideways, speed is 1.41 units; fly forward + sideways + vertically, speed is 1.73 units.
There's a long, challenging learning curve to making best use of this mechanic.

I recommend committing this to muscle memory. It takes two fingers, but is more comfortable than reaching for escape on most keyboards.
I prefer mapping caps lock to control rather than to escape, but that's another good alternative. But in any case it's nice to have another option for quitting vim in case something terrible has happened to your escape key, as it sometimes can (sigh) on modern laptops.
