LLCs limit your financial liability, but you can still work thousands of hours on a business and end up making nothing. If you work the same thousands of hours as an employee, you will make money.
There have been several attempts to make battery swapping for cars a thing. This includes Tesla's attempt and another company that went bankrupt. For some reason, it does not seem to work out and they all stop trying it.
Seems like a flawed design to have the entire national flight system go down from a single point of failure. Do we not have redundancy and / or distributed systems so this sort of thing doesn't happen?
I don't understand why this would cause sadness. I found most of questions I asked it could be answered as well by using a search engine. Sure, it was more concise than searching but going through many sources may give more accuracy and perspective. Perhaps I didn't spend enough time with it but I got bored quickly.
Yes, it does write reasonably well. I asked it for a short story and a joke. The joke was funny and the short story made sense and flowed well. Are we worried comedians will be out of business? Or writers? I don't see that happening. We'll still need writers to track down sources, compile and edit. Maybe it will save writers a lot of time but we'll still need humans for the foreseeable future. It might be that one writer can churn out 10 stories a month rather than 3, but that sort of productivity happened after tools like the printing press, typewriters, etc were invented.
I only asked it one coding question related to a recursive function. The answer didn't make me worry about losing my job. I still had to check it and make sure it was right. It might make certain tasks easier but it can't replace a human yet - not even close. If someone relies on this for their coding job, it will quickly be obvious. It can save some time for people who know how to program. But for those relying on it as a crutch, it will hurt them in the long run as their codebase gets more complicated.
I've always interpreted it as meaning no patch is available yet for a vulnerability. Does not matter whether a decision to patch or not has been made. Doesn't matter if it's been exploited yet.
Yes, I used to file taxes with paper forms from the IRS years ago and this is free. There isn't even an income limit to do it this way as far as I know. But of course it's more of a hassle than doing it online as you have to buy stamps, go to the post office, etc.
What's the point of this? It's not clever or useful and could cause people to waste time and gas getting re-routed. It's no different than spamming a forum or website.
Making DST permanent is essentially forcing everyone to wake up earlier in the day. All we're doing is calling 7 am, now 8 am to get people to psychologically accept this. This is a win for morning people who function better earlier... AND this is a loss for all the non-morning people who will now be forced to work, go to school, etc at a time when they don't operate optimally.
The focus should be on walkable communities. Biking and transit help but they are not good solutions for elderly or people trying to commute reliably. EVs are still bad for the environment. Walking is free and simultaneously helps reduce health issues like obesity. I get irked when articles like this barely discuss walking.
I had this happen to me. Went to order something for pickup from maps. I thought it was the restaurant's page but the order went through postmates. When I arrived to pick up my order, the staff seemed to think I was an employee of postmates.
Anyway, when I got home I did some searching and found out the restaurant had a different webpage from what I ordered from. The prices I paid were a little higher than the actual business websites. It seems postmates charged me more, taking a cut while doing nothing to make the food or deliver it. What a parasitic business to inject yourself as a third party like that.
Some advice if you find it hard to skip meals - you can drink things like coffee, tea or water. Skip the sugar of course, but it helps your stomach feel less empty to have liquids.
Many people are accustomed to having their stomach full all the time and associate the feeling of an empty stomach with something being wrong. I had a friend who couldn't go three hours without eating and said she would feel faint. It's kind of like how some people feel dirty for not showering every morning even if they aren't actually that dirty. But you can learn to stop associating these things. I have been intermittent fasting for years and don't even notice an empty stomach now.
Privacy was never a "core value" at Apple. Have people forgot about Prism? During that, Apple bent over backward to give data to the nsa. Other companies like yahoo sued to try preventing it. Privacy is a marketing tactic at apple they used when they realized it could be used against their competitors like Google who have business models based on knowing as much as possible about their consumers.
They just need to create some incentive to opt in. It could be get some discount or your devices get a fallback if you allow other users to get a fallback in the event of internet loss. That would be the right way to do this.
We should save some of the mosquitoes in labs in case there are unintended consequences. Then if needed, they can be bred and brought back to the environment.
The interest in these crashes is because technically, it's AI that has killed these people. That is fascinating in of itself. Are there any other automakers that have deaths from a similar cause to autopilot?
I'd be interested in quality data about the fatal crashes. I know Tesla states that the death rate is lower than with human drivers. But I've also heard that they use deaths per mile globally to compare and that may not be comparable. Is there any federal requirement for companies to report total autonomous miles driven?
Madeoff's claim has always been that it was meant to be a temporary, short term thing and he believed he could get himself out of it before anyone else realized his fraud.
All this is really doing is forcing everyone to wake up earlier in the morning. You're basically calling what is now 7am, 8am. Instead of forcing schools and companies to start earlier, you just repaint the clocks so these institutions will go with this without resisting.
We already know that many children suffer academically, socially, psychologically because they don't get enough sleep. How many employees also suffer because of this? About a third of people are not "morning people" and get most of their productivity and mental clarity later in the day. These people will suffer the most and at the expense of those who are naturally inclined to be most productive earlier in the day.
We shouldn't do this. We should do the opposite and end daylight savings for even half the year. Let companies choose to start earlier if they want in March if they want more light for their employees. Some companies will do this and some won't. Those companies that do will attract those who are morning people. The companies that don't will attract the opposite. Stop allowing a small group of morning people force what works for them onto everyone else.
I think comments like this dismiss all the people who are using bitcoin for actual, good reasons. They are mostly in developing nations which is why they seem to be getting ignored. There are people who otherwise have to pay very high cross-border transaction costs or can't get a bank account and have real utility for using bitcoin.
It would be like going to a drag race and claiming "cars are gambling". It ignores all the people using cars for commuting to work, getting groceries, etc. How about re-phrasing this to "cryptocurrency speculation is gambling"?
Melatonin and turmeric. The melatonin is actually more to help me wake up than fall asleep. I used to have a horrible time waking up. Now I usually wake up right before my alarm goes off.
