It shows intent, and also tries to give more context behind the
simultaneously humorous and negative connotation behind the name. The name itself is a reference to an understanding that in the USA money, violence, and corruption required to be in politics.
The son of a nazi reference really needs to be there, as it highlights the Nazi element of the Republican party. They didn't just steal the governorship from a bunch of hippies, they replaced a democratically elected governor with "the aryan ideal", accent and racist lineage et al, to prove a point: Californians are second class Americans, white christians only.
The Gubernator does not take votes. The Gubernator terminates democracy.
In 2003 Republicans threw a bunch of dark money to recall a democratically elected governor, Gray Davis, and replace him with a son of a nazi, Arnold Schwarzaneger, a bad actor, as governor. Really. Republicans, especially out of state Mormons opposed to gay marriage), spent a few hundred million dollars when they saw the chance to invalidate our hippy vote and .. replace our chosen governor with .. An aryan son of a nazi. I'm not creative enough to make this up.
Turns out it only takes about $200m to invalidate an election and replace a real lawmaker with Kindergarten Cop.
It was the second biggest theft in our political history, second only to that crying alcoholic fratboy Brett Kavanaugh, who was installed by the Republicans refusing to do their job for a year and a half and process Obama's final Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland.
> Iran helped Hezbollah bomb US citizens - hundreds died. First the US Embassy in Lebanon and then the US Marines Barracks who were on a UN mission to protect Christians during the Lebanon Civil War. Iran also sponsored and trained extremists in Iraq responsible for killing and maiming thousands of U.S. soldiers.
I really wanted to come back to this. Why is it that when we murder people in the middle-east, we are soldiers and citizens, but when middle-easterners kill us, they are terrorists?
When Palestinians defend their homes, they are terrorists, when Israelis kill Palestinians, they are the chosen people doing god's will. Don't you see some discord there?
As an American, I'm baffled by our support of Israel and criticism of Palestine. If the tables were turned, would Americans be terrorists for defending our homes, and for killing those who kill us in order to take our property?
Why is this any different? Why do we give them a free pass to destroy a nation, systematically remove them from their homes, take their passports (Palestinians must become Jordanian citizens in order to leave Occupied Palestine)?
If I make a fake book that claims to be 3,001 years, is it cool for me to go to Jerusalem and start claiming buildings as mine?
How much business was lost through the two summers of rotating brown-outs? Datacenter outages? Maybe Enron didn't impact America, but thanks to America's pro-business, anti-consumer laws, Enron really hurt California.
Mohammed Bone Saw, and the rest of the billionaires in Saudi Arabia who funded 9/11 would beg to differ.
The only reason we are embargoing Iran is because AIPAC tells us to. Iran has never done anything to the United States. Saudi Arabia killed 3,000 Americans in 2 hours, and we didn't seem to mind.
I removed all of mine and my customers' repos from Github within an hour of hearing that they had been purchased by the evil empire. Kids under the age of 30 don't understand, but us old timers will never trust Microsoft.
Poor people are forced to spend more on everything. Finance is a great example. In the USA, banks find poor people unprofitable. To remedy this, they created two institutions:
* ChexSystems, a credit reporting service for bank accounts
* Payday loans, a predatory lending system which takes 4-8% of a person's paycheck to cash it instantly instead of waiting a couple of days.
ChexSystems is designed to identify poor people and ban them from the banking system so that they have to give their round of flesh to shylocks in order to buy food and pay rent. This is one of the more egregious attacks on the poor in the USA, but there are tens of thousands of them to be honest.
In the 1990s we thought Pearl Jam was being silly for trying to bring up an anti-trust lawsuit against Ticketmaster, and the nation had lost it's will after Microsoft's joke of a settlement. In retrospect, that was a real loss. Ticketmaster and Livenation abuse their monopolies to the harm of consumers globally.
This may be a surprise to some people, but just because you don't condone everything a group does, doesn't excuse you from culpability for the acts they take in your name, with your tax dollars.
The happiest man I know is more intelligent than anybody on HN, a wild violinist you'll see playing wild roma, turkish, and arabic standing on top of newspaper boxes in north beach and the mission, when he's not traveling abroad. A genius with perfect pitch who memorizes books and speaks 10 languages.
He decided in University he would be happier without anything, and has been homeless since he was 16. He makes about $40 per day busking, and gives half of it to people less fortunate than himself. say hi to him if you see him.
