https://www.twitch.tv/thestockguy - I can personally recommend this channel for your daily dose of stock related entertainment. It's not a yolo on options channel, it's just a guy that wants to see other people grow their hard earned money into something meaningful.
The discord associated with this twitch channel has an amazing help section, search and you'll find some remarkably well written answers. Just avoid the degenerate-chat topic though.
Healthcare! My company is currently looking for a designer that wants to make healthcare beautiful, easy to use, and less error prone. If you really want to dive into a company that is making a difference and really cares about changing things for the better shoot me an email benjamin at triceimaging.com
http://castcurator.com/ Mostly just the music stuff I listen to and a few recommendations that I got over the past few days. I will go ahead and add all the podcasts that pop up in this thread and create a HN feed for them.
This is something I have been doing with the idea guys on craigslist. Most of them are not even willing to buy me a cup of coffee to listen to their pitch. Out of 15 or so I have yet to see even a basic landing page get put up.
The biggest problem I face is that in the time it takes me to do a single page mock up a pro could have done 15 different one. It is not quite a matter of software knowledge at this point, it is more of a "this is the only thing I can think of doing" thing.
Haven't we seen this movie before? At one point the web was a complete joke to the average user and now we have an incredibly diverse ecosystem of web applications.
I think that applications that require high performance will always require a native app, but for the simple business applications out there mobile web apps will certainly do just fine. The devices will get faster, the designers will work out the user interface issues, and the programmers will make it easier.
The next five year will be dominated by native mobile apps, after that I really don't think we are all going to continue to pay the expense of developing on multiple platforms.
I'd really love to see this article accompanied with a video of you actually working (no narration necessary). I think it would be very helpful to see what the real work flow is like.
This is a wonderful collection of resources. The screencast by Lau Jensen was a fantastic demonstration of how to setup emacs/slime/etc correctly. I would had never found this without your site, thank you. --Benjamin
