This resonates with my experience. The small company I worked at during Covid lockdowns had a 3-questions structured standup. At one point we added the question 'how do you feel today?' as 0th question. It helped us to see each more other as humans, which is often difficult when Slack, Zoom and PRs are the dominant communication forms.
Also: all-day Slack huddles in the #watercooler channel, everyone muted by default, is a surprisingly effective way to lower the barrier for team communication. If you're waiting to talk about being blocked until morning standup, you'll probably ask for help about 16 hours later than necessary.
We use selenium tests as a last line of defense. Using it as your only integration test, however, seems a bad idea to me. There are more specific and faster possibilities for testing.
The thing that would make selenium a lot better, would be if browser vendors could agree on a standard for instrumentation. This is of course a perfect-world line of thinking.
I have totally no experience with this, but I would use a search algorithm to establish your 'real rate'. Decide for yourself what figure you need to earn as a bare minimum and try to sell your services for that price. After getting a job, you know one price you're not worth. Raise your offer price by twice the amount you think would be fair and try to find new work.
Measure and write things down, as far as possible avoid selling for the same price twice, don't lose confidence in yourself.
