I believe the question being raised is the opposite: that this violation is bad, and we cannot neglect the other violations already being done remotely by these other agencies.
I think so as well. The intent of this write-up is explicitly to advocate for a practice to "Expire cookies early". "Depreciate" might not be the perfect word, but "deprecate" is outright misleading.

My focus wanders quite a bit when doing anything in general, so I highlight text when reading webpages to help anchor my attention and forcefully keep track of where I am.
Otherwise, my eyes tend to jump around the page in a horribly ineffective attempt to speed-read and I miss a lot of details.
People in the comments are making references to prank videos and film techniques, but this type of research study has also been conducted multiples times in the last few years by institutions such as Stanford [1], UC San Diego [2], Virginia Tech [3], and more.
It's great that Messenger is being worked on. I wish they'd also work on improving the UI instead of spending time tacking on half-baked features, but that's probably a discussion for another time and place.
I have noticed fairly recently that searching chat histories is much faster and more reliable than it used to be, so that's a plus.
edit: Should've probably elaborated. Not only is a pie chart usually ineffective at conveying information, but these percentages are totally arbitrary. There's not really a specific explanation for why linear algebra is weighted more than multivariate calculus and algorithms & complexity combined, not to mention the fact that linear algebra and multivariate calculus in machine learning overlap to a large degree, and they both feed into algorithms & complexity as well.
And then on top of that, the 3D and shading seem totally unnecessary, but that's just me.
