There is a country wide sticker/digital vignette you can get for different periods of time and a handful of tunnels that cost extra money that you can pay in cash or by card at the time you drive through one of those. How is that a mess?
Of course a system like Germany where you don't have any tolls is even easier but compared to France or Italy where you constantly have to pull over for toll stops and end up paying a multiple more for most trips I think this is pretty great

Fwiw you can make payments without any account via https://www.irs.gov/payments/direct-pay and also check their status via that page. You just need the account to e.g. get your transcripts.
You can't enforce complexity rules or check against known leaked passwords or that they don't reuse username as password or anything like that if you hash on the client too
I use this to automate a lot of tasks. E.g. automatically clip supermarket coupons every week, check for tax loss harvesting opportunities in my portfolio, etc.
There's no guarantee that option 3 can be accomplished in the US. We might aim for it and realize that we're only accomplishing #2 and now inflicted maximum economic damage on top of it.
I switched a few month back and it's still painful for me. Plain search results are OK but Google is so much better with deep integrations.

- I google a sports team, it shows me most recent results
- I google a flight number, it shows me flight status
- I google.g. nyse djia, it shows me the current stock value
Unlike the author of this post I very much miss these. Now this means having to click through and find this info on flightaware, ESPN, some finance page, etc. instead of just immediately getting what I want
You can get the best of both worlds by self-hosting and putting a CDN in front of that. This way you get robustness and your app will still function in isolation

What worked for me is to settle on a generic filler item. Personally I use toothpaste. Costs a decent amount, can be stored for a long time, doesn't need much space and I'll need it eventually. This way I don't go looking around randomly but just always fill the gap with that item.
I'm subscribed to change my consumption habits and it has worked for the most part. I usually don't buy enough fruit and vegetables when I shop for myself and avoid certain vegetables completely. Imperfect fixes this for me. Fruit and vegetables just appear every week and once they're in my home I"m too cheap to let them go to waste so I end up eating them.
I'd subscribe to normal produce delivery instead if that were an option. I don't really care about the "imperfect" part and the premium over my local supermarket is pretty negligible
Namecheap now finally supports TOTP and U2F is on their roadmap. I was close to dropping them before this recent development but it seems like they finally take this seriously
