It's not equally distributed. In Boston, MA area kids have as much autonomy as their parents wish to give them AFAIK. It's not uncommon to see 10 year olds in my town nearby they are doing all sorts of biz around town on their own.
This is just doomerism and painting with a planet wide brush. IMHO it's not so simple.
There has been much laudable and scientific progress in the past 50 years. Higgs Boston discovery and mRNA vaccines being two that come to mind.
And examples of progress that science helped start and then international and national institutions brought to the masses: Smallpox eradication, HIV treatment, lower childhood mortality, etc.
There are a lot of things China does which limits US reach within their country that the US, as a more free society, would not be a good fit for the US.
This seems to me to be one of things we probably should not have done.
It’s kinda funny that the Waymo car is so impatient. I’m pretty sure in this situation I would have just waited until the group ride cleared out to ahead of me and then continued. I would not want to crowd or find my way around them. If I wanted to get past such a big group ride I would probably reroute onto another block since they would keep catching me at stop lights.
I often find the definition of ultra processed difficult. I put pea protein powder in my smoothies. That is certainly ultra processed however it has good macro nutrients and is not empty calories.
I understand the concept of “empty calories”, but ultra processed seems like a blend of that and how the food was made.
Pretty sure, for all you weirdos with poor senses of humor, that the folks behind this do more to preserve retro computers than most of you put together.

Selective enforcement is difficult to discern, even with large population statistics, and more so in individual cases. It requires comparing similar situations and then constructing an argument that will probably be unsatisfactory.
However, it is readily apparent that large donors to universities exerting pressure through their financial contributions is problematic. This not only undermines the integrity of the institution but also complicates the effective management of the university.
