Can your code work on AWS Lambda with one of their DB services? If you need it to scale with growth starting on a cloud platform will save headache later. If you don't need scaling it's possible you could run it on the permanently-free tiers or very low cost once you utilize the free quotas each month.
sorry I was unclear. I assumed those who created ed knew how to use it - but regular people not familiar with ed would tend to use cat and echo when stuck in a broken / bare system.
it had 'ed' the precursor to ex and vi editors. The terminal they used was paper so not quite ready for a visually oriented editor! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teletype_Model_33) If you're stuck on a basic system or rescue shell, cat and echo are considerably more straightforward if you don't know how to use ed already.
These sound like things that used to be regular part of install/setup on BSD and Linux. It's so much nicer now not having to setup the network, GUI or disks. Nevermind the week of downloading all the floppy images.
I wonder how legislating open algorithms as illegal will work out? If you can run this reasonably on a phone building your own face/object databases how could they stop anyone from doing it?
They would have to bring something far more compelling compared to AWS if they are to gain much market share. Either in terms features or notable cost difference. Technical people with a general mistrust of them go into planning with GCP as a hesitant second or third choice. The traditional IT departments moving to Azure aren't going to consider the other vendors much when there's such a direct migration. Combined with headcount and capital cost reduction so clearly mapped out for them.
but wait... do you want them to go from that to today's dev environments? ;)
