Puerto Rico (USA Territory) - Digital payments in the form of debit or credit cards are pretty much universal here, but most fast foods, small business and even semi-formal business (mom+pop) accept an app-based payment called ATH movil. This system is sponsored by the largest bank here (although it's not owned by them). This is so strong here that many businesses apologize when they can't accept it, and the smallest business only accept either cash or ATH móvil.
Not all the local banks and credit unions support the system. So when you don't have cash and cannot use ATH móvil to pay, you might feel excluded from the local economy.
In my opinion this bank is using the app to consolidate the oligopoly in the local market. Which is almost a monopoly because the other banks are insignificant to them (in size). Of course, they share the system with other tiny banks and credit unions, so you cannot claim monopoly. In addition, the system belongs to a company that they spun off a few years ago.
This is not possible. No other country have implemented a program against homeless that works, and those who tried in the past have given up because it's an impossible problem to solve.

There almost all the energy consumed is added to the output in addition to all the energy removed from the other side. That's why the efficiency in heat pumps is beyond 200%.
In summary, no. Cooling is not more efficient than heating. But given the temperature differential when cooling the energy consumption is usually higher.

The article makes you believe that the 11% benefit from using masks in the Bangladesh study was for the whole population (100%) using the mask (experimental group) vs the control group (0%) not using masks. However, the 11% benefit for an experimental group of only 42% of the them using masks vs 13% using masks in the control group. There was only a 29% point difference between groups (not 100%). And compliance was not 100% perfect (as usual).
Assuming that the study was correctly performed, maybe 100% usage difference between groups (all using masks in experimental groups vs nobody using them in control group) could have shown a much higher benefit. But that remains to be tested.

And you should try consuming internet in a desktop or laptop. Even a Chromebook works ok (but a gaming PC is better). Most apps offer a limited experience in mobile, or tablet (it sucks) and seriously, sites render much faster on a fast PC. I can right-click 10 links on the browser, send them to open in the background, consume each tab a close what doesn't work. It is so much nice and faster experience.

Maybe they want to break the boundaries between your real self (as you consume apps like WhatsApp and Instagram), your social profile (true self in virtual world like the closed garden in Facebook) and the avatar in a world like Second Life. This would be a gold mine, because they already can target ads to you in the real world, so they could do it there too. Doing it were the people use fake avatars is not so easy.
So think that every user is an inhabitant, a citizen, a potential buyer in the virtual and the real world, but also a potential business owner in the virtual world.
Business owners will be tax payers that must pay fees to operate on this city-state that will have internal laws that except for few cases (at most) will not be subject to government laws and constitutional protection, and if you are difficult or problematic the authority will be able to expatriate you without prior notice, regardless of time or money invested in the platform. Maybe, at most, they could offer arbitration with a company that knows that if they don't favor Meta the contract will not be renewed.
So yeah. It is a good idea, if they can pull it.

I have a friend that wasn't homeless, but all unemployment money was used on rent required to keep his shared custody (without an apartment to house the kids, you cannot have custody).
He always was clean and used good clothes, but he made the line with homeless people to get free food daily. Otherwise he wouldn't have money to eat.
He said that the worst part of all was the look from voluntary women that were working on the food delivery organization. Each woman reacts differently to men. But he says that this is completely different. The look is like if he wasn't even a man - it's like they are feeding a lesser species.
He says that he have never experienced the same reaction from women in other contexts, and that it hurts. It steals away all feeling of manliness. Luckily he got out of that situation many years ago.
