Compared to the interest only part, the savings are significant. Way more than 200 per month.
The capital repayments are not money lost in the same way that rent would be (assuming your house price doesnt plummet and you are forced to sell at that time).
So in the UK (outside London at least) at the moment there is little argument for renting, assuming you can afford the down payment.
London is a slightly different beast mind as prices have skyrocketed and down payments can be huge
No, slack free plan only allows 10000 messages to be saved at any one time. Nothing to do with user limit.
Unbelievable that a service like this would change the key part of their platform without even checking the pricing page to see what free plan restrictions were...
It's very different to owning shares in a company. You have to either buy a house or rent. You cant opt out entirely, whereas you can with shares.
By choosing to rent, you are betting on the housing market being stagnant or falling, if house prices shoot up and you opted to rent, you will need to now pay higher rents or a bigger mortgage.
So there is risk in renting too
If you decided to rent in london instead of buying 3 years ago, you'd be tens of thousands down
Hmm, I don't think not fully understanding existing tools and not wanting to read documentation is a good reason.
You can easily add prompting with maven, gradle etc, test result reporting, source control integration is all built in.
The 150 flags you mention provide flexibility, you dont need to know them all to get started. With your custom build process, instead of finding a flag that does what you need, you need to implement what you need from scratch, and document it for future developers.
If you use a standard build tool its also easier to hire someone who already knows it, plus understanding them will help you fit into new teams easier.
Unless maybe this is for personal projects, in which case I think its probably less of an issue
I believe the parent comment is talking about website owners.
A quick check of a website I run says 96% of hits come from Google. If Google decide to block that site or put it on page 10, the site is dead.
Didn't see that little gem. If I signed up and received a phone call within 30 mins Id probably go ahead and close the account.
Email replies doesn't actually mean anything, would be interesting to see what kind of user rentention and paying customers they got from both approaches.
Also, if someone replies saying "please do not call me". Does this count in the stats?
The article mentions this as a question if you want to confine the amount of money you spend: “How much do you want to invest before we stop?”
I think this is one of the fundamental issues with Agile, if a client wants to hire a consultancy to complete a project, they want to know how much it will cost and what will actually be completed.
Forming the question as: “How much do you want to invest before we stop?” requires a large amount of trust in the consultancy, personally I have worked with a number that supply below par developers and so asking “How much do you want to invest before we stop?” gives the client no guarantees and the consultancy no obligation to what will actually be delivered.
I think agile can work for in house software teams but not so much for consultancies, where in reality there are normally 2 or 3 of those variables mentioned in the article fixed.
Also the income statement says: All numbers in thousands
So you need to add 000 to the end of those numbers
