It is interesting that I did no see in the comments the costs of using Mastercard & Visa as a reason for governments to find alternatives for their economies.
Both Visa and MC are US companies so there is where the profits go ....
From US Senate hearing : "This is classic, classic monopolistic behavior. Yet you're testimony...is you don't want any competition...I'm having a hard time finding that position defensible, let alone sympathetic...it's unbelievable the amount of money you're making."
One of the gems on the internet. I first used it with ie4 .... that allowed to be saved locally via ActiveX. Now I have a plugin that saves it to Google drive.
In terms of performance my expectations is to be comparable to the vm/vps from cloud providers where IOs are also limited, and with plenty of RAM for many workloads this will not be a big issues.
Many of the comments are from the point of view treating the phone as a desktop to use directly with is not very nice experience.
I want to treat the "old" phone as a server: 8 cores , 6 GB Ram, UPS, plenty of storage(expandable), Low power consumption
, small form factor, redundant network 4/5G+Wifi, has built in screen and "keyboard" for time when you need to do debugging.
Does others experience with this kind of setup?
What services are you running ?
I have tried many things apps/excel/text file and after some time I give up.
The current solution I use for more than one year and I am happy. Works while travelling (currency support) but it needs internet.
To solve personal finance control I made myself a bot (on telegram).
Works on anything web/desktop/mobile and that is just text. I think about it as my accountant.
I send him
>Beer 4 ( meaning I spent 4 on beer)
>wine 6 EUR ( meaning I spent 6 EUR on wine)
If I want to group things in a category:
>Beer is drinks
>wine is drinks
Don't forget to first set the expense currency.
>config ExpenseCurrency USD - (this will be the default expense currency if you don't specify otherwhise)
If you want to export just write:
> export expense
You will receive an url that can be imported(as text) in excel and can be refreshed.
I use excel if I want explore/visualize.
I get a reminder/summary every day just to make sure I don't forget.
