A walkman costs like what, $20? A cell phone is hundreds. Do you, as a teacher really want thousands and thousands of dollars of students' electronics stashed in your drawer?
There are already too many problems with cars using roads as cars. Cars have monopolized public space in an unprecedented way that needs to be vastly scaled back.
So strange there's no notch in the main picture on the announcement. The top bezel does not look the same as on the product page either, even aside from the notch, it's too thick.

Even better: potentially, instead of negotiating prices one on one, we could form some sort of large collective enterprise that was beholden to us so that it could negotiate prices on our behalf. I'd bet if there was such an group that represented a large enough % of us, we could get some pretty good deals. Now, what would we call it...
If musicians want to pull their music off of spotify in protest, they should. If spotify wants to keep Joe Rogan on their platform, they should. I think think spotify owes Joe a platform, whatever the case may be about his using the n-word or other issues. Cancel culture is mainstream now, not just a leftist symptom any more.
I personally think Rogan will be fine. He makes podcasts, he can host them anywhere he wants and his audience will follow. He'll probably come out ahead if spotify cancels him.
Ironically, people do kind of do this, with discussions about traffic, except that nobody benefits. Everyone wants to drive, and no one wants to be stuck in traffic. Restrictions on driving like tolls or special driving zones, bus lanes, etc. all seem to meet the same kinds of headwinds in the US. Maybe this is too far of a stretch for a connection, but your comment got me thinking.
Yeah, that's why so many ships are registered to specific countries too, so they can operate with looser restrictions. It's basically "offshoring" but for the regulations. When I worked in fisheries, I remember seeing so many boats registered to Panama, and never knew why:

People often conflate technological progress and some sort of overall bettering of society. Science/Technology have nothing, inherently, to do with morality, and people have not changed much. The future may be published by technology, but it will be written by our impulses.
A big part of the jokes I seemingly missed reading it in English, according to a friend of mine who read it in Russian, is that some of the landowners and other characters' names are untranslated puns.
The article mentions fake or duplicate accounts but not those that exist for dead people either [1] which would seem to become more and more important over time.
