I was actually at this podcast recording (its great by the way, check it out). It was the most human discussion I've heard for a long time. It really struck home that people assume so much of someone because they are on TV. He is a great guy with many problems, a great ambassador for taking the stigma out of mental illness.
I remember moving from 6502 to mips. Had to build a calculator for compsci. I rewrote the multiply instruction, didnt even consider it would be there in mips. 6502 was my first assembly, and i hold it dear to my heart :)
This is exactly how megaupload used to work. They use file hashes, i heard reports of some hash collisions meaning entirely different files were identified as duplicates...that was gamed though i believe, real life collisions less likely
Back in high school, i visited the JET nuclear fusion project in Oxfordshire, they told us that they have to plan fusion experiments so they don't coincide with the end or commercial break of a soap, due to the tokamak requiring (i can't remember the exact figure) ~1 - 5% of the national grid's output.
