sounds interesting. Similar to CloudHSM, I'm assuming this will also ensure vendors/app developers meet regulatory compliance when storing corporate data?
Yes, definitely! We wanted to make sure the first set was highly curated and effective, but we do plan on releasing engineering kits in the near future.
Thanks for the question terravion! Great point about Deloitte--we wanted to take world class training programs (where companies have deep pockets) and make it accessible to SMBs/mid-market companies. We can help you build full development paths for your team--from onboarding all the way to promotion or changing roles. Happy to tell you more if you want to drop a quick line to [email protected]
i agree, i think that's a huge disadvantage for FB, but doesn't mean that they should give up on breaking into the market. as mark mentioned at startup school, his approach is to adapt to the cultural norms and policies of foreign countries. perhaps they could start hiring from within the country and start garnering the favor of the gov? maybe release a closely monitored version of fb? overall, fb is good at hacking around problems and this is just another problem i think they can solve if they put the time and resources into it.
i didn't program before using this course. took me 4 months to go from nothing to getting an app published in the app store after going through about 75% of the courses (not all the lectures are applicable - they cover a wide range of topics). This is by far the best resource if you're looking to get into iphone development, even without a programming background. plus - it's completely free!
wow, what an awesome read. I referenced the TJX hacks in a ton of customer presentations to sell Cisco's security suite, but never knew what happened behind the scenes. On one hand, he caused $400M in damages to his direct victims, but made a fortune for IT software/security companies by instilling FUD in enterprises across the globe.
I was on a sales team of ~12 enterprise engineers and account managers that was always a top performing region in our operation. I think this was due to the fact that our boss consistently recognized team members publicly (in group emails or voicemails) almost on a daily basis. It made me want to work harder for him every day. Still the best boss I've had.
i only watched the video, but i really dig the pitch. im a heavy user of Pivotal tracker (which looks very similar to your dashboard), but i find that it can be sometimes too focused on command and control (one person assigning a task to another person). it seems like your solution will encourage more collaboration off the bat, with people having to step up and willingly take ownership of projects, which could lead to better delivery times.
"Handset developers must urgently seek new sources of differentiation to offset the huge pressure on margins. Their search will need to consider their industrial designs, user experience, the richness of available applications, and new business models"
-I will give it to android and ios, it has caused handset manufacturers to start making phones that don't suck as much they used to. Think, the last cool phone that motorola made was the Razr (2004), now they're coming out with some pretty cool handsets. Overall, this is going to only benefit the end user
very true - you can tell when jobs called TweetDeck "TwitterDeck" in his earnings call - quote here: http://www.businessinsider.com/tweetdeck-steve-jobs-2010-10 . Hopefully apple doesn't miss the social boat, because i'm a big apple fan
