My heart really goes out to those of you who went through long battles. Today would have been father’s birthday, sadly he passed away last year aged 61. I often anguished over how quickly he left us, two weeks from the day I found out he was sick to the day he died, I now realise that although I was robbed of time, he and I were both saved a lot of pain.
I would like to see it your way but all of this so-called decoupling from China seems very half-arsed and appears to me to be nothing more than a show for the electorate. None of it seems very concrete, for years we’ve read that country X is going to hold China accountable for Y but China just keeps on steamrolling forwards without much consequence.
>Because Asian countries were basing their advice on science
Actually for the most part this isn't true, our government was also telling us to wear masks but because of our previous experience with SARS everyone wore them anyway. Now of course it is illegal not to wear one.
Sure, it's not like the current lines of conflict haven't existed for hundreds of years or anything. This reductionist mentality is really starting wear thin.
Let's just ban people who think differently from education, that will surely be a great boon to the country...
It doesn't matter if they grow out of it or not, who are you to decide who gets education and who doesn't, I thought education was believed to a be universal right.
A similar vein of thought but much much broader. It Allows for the collection of content data by local law enforcement as opposed to the NSL "By law, NSLs can request only non-content information, for example, transactional records and phone numbers dialed, but never the content of telephone calls or e-mails."[0]
For anyone not sure of the difference between this and most countries where companies have to comply with police requests, the big difference is that HK police no longer requires a warrant. HK Police may now demand data from companies such as Facebook without a warrant, it should be interesting to see how these companies handle it.
You don't need to compromise a site they visit regularly, there are plenty of other ways to get someone to visit a malicious page, phishing email or even a link on HackerNews for example. People will visit new sites for all kinds of reasons, you'd just need to understand your target.
I believe sleep to be one of the most underrated and underutilized health strategies, I know so many who diet and do all sorts but then are proud of the fact they only sleep 6 hours a night. Study after study shows how incredibly deterementail even a slight lack of sleep can be, so much so that I usually don't believe I've read them correctly to begin with.
I would suggest this book to anyone interested in the topic:
Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams – Matthew Walker
The author was on Joe Rogan at some point too but I haven't listened to it.
