I rarely read the commit messages.
It's often faster to just read the code than an obscure description, I'd rather have a small sentence that summarizes what the diff is doing than a technical paper explaining every change in the commit. I don't read pass the title.
- 14" diagonal FHD LED UWWA for HD Webcam (1920x1080) (1000 Nits)⁹
FHD is dead to me, I want pixels please. It's SO hard to find a laptop with a good 2k/4k screen. As a dev I want a lot of screen space.
- 720p HD camera
Seriously ?
I know it's a $1,099, but if your target is developers, they want better spec, the price is not really the issue. If I spend my life on a laptop, it better be a really good one.
> HDMI is great when you're doing presentations all over the place, no need to keep track of dongles, most places I present at uses HDMI.
Then you only have an HDMI dongle.
Until you present at one that use display port, someone can give you a display port dongle.
> USB-A is useful for tons of accessories, personally I only have a one (out of five in total) using USB-C, and most USB sticks I come across when consulting are in fact USB-A.
I know that, I m not against it at all. Just, can we USB-2 retire now ?
> If you're out after as much screen estate as possible, external monitors are for you. A 14-inch laptop are for people on the go.
I code on the go and I don't want to be on a small resolution laptop when I m not at home.
- a second USB-C.
- You don't need that HDMI if you have enough USB-C, since you can turn them into what ever port you need.
- Why the fuck do we still have USB-2 port ?
- We really need to have option for the screen, 1080p is not enough for a lot of people. I like to have as much screen pixel has possible (because I can display more line of code).
You should never buy a domain like that. This just show that it work and make the domain parking business profitable. Stop buying those domain and it will kill that awful business...
Did you replace the screen somehow ?
I have a X220, replaced a lot of stuff, but I barely use it today because the 1366x768 screen is not enough anymore...
At least a 1080p display is the bare minimum today.
I tried, when Spacemacs was somehow broken on my system. I didn't find anything better on Doom, and fixing Spacemacs was easier than switching to Doom.
Using Doom, most of your muscle memory from Spacemacs is gone because not everything is configured the same (that is of course normal). But not all, and that make the experience weird to me.
I also feel like Spacemacs is growing faster and has more feature than Doom, because more dev's are working on Spacemacs. But I might be wrong about that.
Think about it: a 5 year old? Who could write anything at that age? You can't even hold a pencil properly at 5 year old, so using a keyboard and bash? Please...
I dare you to put a 5 year old in front of a CLI only computer and have them not ignoring it because it does nothing.
I have been a dog trainer for about 16 years now and see this behaviour countless time. Most commonly on shepherd typed dog. But some hunting dog do it too.
It's always linked to how focus the dog is something. It's also when you repeat multiple time the same command that you trigger this behaviour. Like they focus on it.
> Doing nothing is akin to saying my time is more valuable than yours, you silly plebian. It's the sort of attitude that reinforces the unfortunate stereotype that IT people are arrogant and view their expertise and role as more important than others'.
But... It's (for developers) ! They are building things, value. That is not the case for everyone.
> I found great success providing IT support by always responding immediately when I'm available, and establishing focus times where others know I may not respond right away. An attitude of service and humility can go a long way in winning the respect and trust of your colleagues and supervisors.
Or you will be the go to person for EVERY little issues that could be solved with little effort. Been there, done that, will not be that person again.
