I just checked a personal website I last rebuilt over 10 years ago in pure HTML - not on a green host but apparently needs to offset against 25kg of CO2; 1 tree needs to be planted.
Next up, the company’s WordPress site, 2 years since the last rebuild (wasn’t happy with the code bloat etc.) - apparently Google Cloud is a green host but I need to offset against 156 kg of CO2 per annum which is 8 trees. Happy to do that and will blog about it this week too.
Now I need to go through the portfolio of sites to see what else needs to be looked at...
Exact Match Domains (EMDs) are regarded as spammy, particularly the longer more hyphenated ones, so something snappier is better.
Snappier is more memorable, easier to type, easier to write (on media, signs etc), easier to say, discuss and has more brand value.
If you’re looking to optimise for long tail searches then just focus on making the site as genuinely valuable and as high quality as possible for the product or service.
