As a Christian, I find the honest clarity of the project's goals rather refreshing as some bible translations have agendas other than proclaiming the word of God.
Perhaps we could work on something relevant?
I've always been amazed by how people can change the Holy Bible.
If you don't like it the way it is, just don't apply what's in it. Why the need to alter it.
That's like altering Shakespeare's work to modernize it, using "new" English. It became what it is today the way it was written, why change it. Just weird.
PS: I'm not Christian. Maybe that's why I'm baffled.

If you're curious about the changing the Bible - there's a split in Christian thought about the it. Some view the Bible being the word of God, and some view that the Bible contains the word of God. The later group tends to be more apt to expound and modify the bible for reasons of clarity and emphasis.
The first group tends to be grumpy about that. :)
Yeah, I'm well aware of that. I just find that altering a religious book in any way feels kind of funny.
If I don't agree with it, I'll just do my thing but I mean, why would I change it for others too. We'd have as many religious books as there are people that way.

The Bible has been changed for many generations. Edited and editorialized countless times.

I know. I just find it odd that a Bible is more likely to get changed than a rap song.. I don't imagine someone would edit Tupac pieces to make them more fit to "our times".

Well, I may not be Christian, but it's the book of Christians, so it is Holy. I think that way about the Torah and Quran.

Well, the Torah and Quran are version 1 and 3 of the same book. The Christian Bible can be considered version 2.

I think your issue is about who can change it.
Back in the middle ages there were wars and conflict because of who could read it. Catholics said that only Holy people could read it, protestants said that everyone could.
Shortly ago, the Pope asked for 'Prophets' to appear, to make the Catholic church less 'catechismic' and make it adapt to the times. If that happens, the Bible will be edited, possibly but not limited to adding books.
So I think you probably disagree with common people editing and adding stuff to the Bible, but have no issues with Catholic sanctioned 'Prophets' writing new Bible stuff.
I think that this public editing is great and fantastic. This is because the Bible, Holy or sacred or whatever, is just a book like any other. It should not be held above any person, and people should be free of any oppression related to it.
However, I think this effort will fail. Because people can 'respect' and 'fear' things they don't fully accept, and this particular book is basically the most resilient one of these things.
