I totally agree with your point of view. There is a big difference between automating laundry that would otherwise take hours of hard manual labor every week and automating 15 minutes of light house chores. If you remove all chores and minor inconveniences from your life then what remains? Tik Tok scrolling? Reddit posting? Most of us don’t have creative passions that occupy their entire days. Those little tasks are the time for resting your eyes and brain, interacting with your family, reflecting on your life. I’d never want to have my entire life completely automated from me. AI chatbots for thinking my thoughts, maid robots for living my life.

You’re supposed to clean as you cook. Every little spill or splat gets wiped immediately. There is no cleaning afterwards.

Dirty dishes don’t go into the sink but directly into a dish washer. The only chore that remains is unloading clean dishes in preparation for the next dirty load. It’s all about organization and planning. It all fits together.

I had problems with anxiety and irritability that went away after I removed coffee and sugar from my diet. Coffee would make me more alert but wouldn’t actually help me think and be more productive. I miss that smell and taste though.

Talk with your doctor and ask for EKG. Those meds are not safe for people with preexisting heart conditions. Better be safe than sorry (or dead).

Drivers, not software suites and it's opt in and not opt out like on Windows. If you're still unhappy about it then with Linux you have a choice. You can switch to another distro like for example Fedora instead.

Most of the best games I have ever played are either indies or Nintendo games. Feels like independent developers and sometimes Nintendo are the only ones still trying to make fun games with original ideas while the rest of the industry has shifted its focus entirely towards cookie cutter slop and lazy remasters.

What's so difficult in avoiding their products? I haven't bought a single EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, Microsoft game in at least 5 years and yet I have more good games to play than time to play them.

It takes advantage of Windows Update feature that automatically installs manufacturer’s software once a supported device is connected. Microsoft takes partial responsibility for allowing this in the first place. Linux and macOS devices are not affected.

Whole 3.13ms? Man idk shit’s unplayable now.

When rendering 60fps on a 60Hz display every frame takes approximately 16ms to render. Then you have to add TV latency that’a probably around 20ms unless you have a very nice OLED TV. Wireless controller latency is around 8ms I think? Then your imperfect human brain adds even more latency especially when you’re tired after work. That 3ms is not perceivable. Make that 5ms even. Nobody would be able to tell a difference in a blind test.

Well, nobody's arguing about RPi prices here. I'm just advocating for using the right tool for the job. Lots of people claim that Raspberry Pis have been rendered obsolete by cheap N100 mini PCs but they simply lack the understanding of what RPi actually is and what are its optimal use cases. Hosting a home server on a 16GB Raspberry Pi is mental illness territory and that's where an x86 mini PC is going to make way more sense. Same with retro gaming (unless you really need Composite out). RPis shine when you need compact size, low power and heat with great selection of hardware accessories like cameras and other sensors but also want to run full Linux or need that extra performance that a micro controller just doesn't have.

Edit: Putting a device with permanently attached battery inside of a wall or even on a mount, always plugged in gives me the heebie-jeebies.

But that's way bigger and hotter than a RPi4 with an official Touch Display 2. It's technically possible but sounds silly and impractical.

True but that Raspberry Pi can be both the server and the interface if desired. It's also the easiest way to do all of this with RPis great software support and official plug and play accessories like RPi Touch Display 2. RPi is also going to be way more responsive rendering a complex Home Assistant dashboard.

Can a N100-class minipc” be installed inside of a wall with a touchscreen and serve as a PoE powered Home Assistant interface? Can it be used to build a portable battery powered smartphone like PC (Compute Module 5)?

Raspberry Pi’s biggest strength is its form factor and low power draw.

I don't know much about older models but on 4 and 5 they chose to use a weird power standard to reduce cost. Just buy the official charger. They're not expensive.

Official power supply is sold separately. Pis work fine with unofficial USB-PD power supplies but will limit maximum current for USB devices. I have two Pi 5's and one 4 and they all are perfectly stable when powered with an old Lenovo laptop charger.
