Nimbus was a really fun project, just spent a bit re-formatting previous writeups to be more modern-web compliant. The one-wheel was indeed a weirdly synchronous release, I had no idea it would be as wildly successful as it became.
It does indeed work! I've been meaning to instrument a food stimulant mass to determine how the chaos is effected my mass offset vs speed. I think due to the under-actuated nature of the system you're stuck with a balance between cg-offset, gravity and input rotation on the first axis
It's always nice to see a detailed write up, a lot of cnc mill repairs end up replacing the existing control hardware but this write up was a curious take on maintaining the existing electronics, which takes more talent than replacing.
Thanks for the question, I completely missed that part. I'm using a homemade e-bike where the battery is just connected with a standard Anderson connector. A lot of off the shelf battery modules do have proprietary connectors, but a fair number have been documented.
The M365 scooter batteries for instance are 36V 9AH and they connect with a hobby XT series connector.
