the thing is, we need the other 1%, but when in absolute numbers it is small, you can still kind of find it, but imagine you have to look through 1 billion books to find one good book, it is as good as this 1% disappearing
haha i have most of the negative symptoms and never had any drugs what so ever

you assume they just reproduces the training set, but when they get big enough they start to "understand" things, when the input is really big it actually can never "guess" the next word in the batch, so it has to "learn" concepts
maybe not search engines, but it has totally replaced stackoverflow and google for searching for docs or even wikipedia in some sense (e.g. make alpha blend between two argb uint32 pixels)
google has been going progressively worse to find what i need, sometimes i even have to go to second page, wasting time clicking on bullshit markov chain seo sites to find out how to parse date in whatever new language i am learning
with chatgpt: parse a date from string in the v programming language, try googling that
this line of thinking is quite difficult to get by in the modern world, same applies to vaccines, or to your car, or to the food you eat the browser you use, etc, in fact if you randomly look in your room right now it is very likely that you will be shocked (e.g. the complexity of the HDMI cable)
