I live in Europe and drive a Tesla, so I occasionally chat with other Tesla owners. Many of them make a point of mentioning that they bought their car years ago and probably wouldn’t have made the same choice if they’d known about Musk’s activities in Europe. Some even seem worried about being judged.
I’m fairly certain that the overall decline in interest is mainly due to general economic uncertainty and the phasing out of EV incentives in various countries. But I’m trying to say that it’s clear that Musk’s reputation has taken a hit! ironically among some of the very demographic groups most likely to be Tesla customers.
I love Tesla’s take on buttons. Not the latest one that they have on S and X and I think recent 3 design, but what they have in model Y and older model 3s.
Real buttons for window control, very easy to use and multi purpose knobs on steering wheels, very functional steering stalks, combined with great software, with great user interface, and good hardware to support it.
But for some reason German car makers that were inspired by it ended up with horrible haptic buttons everywhere.
They are and they do kill people and make them suffer! Just nobody will count civilian casualties.
I think they are terrible. Just look at how little inflation has affected society even in most resilient economies and rich countries. Angry and impatient people everywhere, shoplifting and all sort of theft and crime going up.
Sanctions are not designed to directly pressure elites and corrupt leaders. They probably benefit even more because everyone now relies on them to do any foreign business. Average investor can no longer do anything. Therefore, it gives more power to the sanctioned regime.
Sanctions are designed to inflict great suffering on ordinary people in the hope of toppling the government. That's what they do!
Subjective or not, it definitely doesn't make sense to lock them together. If you change one, the other will also change. The fact that it doesn't allow me to have different settings for the mouse and trackpad doesn't make sense to me.
If you don't need to backup regularly, use offline storage and take multiple copies. That's what I do for everything I run at home. But I don't need daily backup. I backup every quarter.
How is this a surprise? Nothing can improve an army like war. Just compare the US military before and after the Afghanistan war. Each individual piece of equipment and every tactic went through several evolution.
This is why other countries send troops every time the US goes to war. They send them to practice and learn. Certainly, the United States did not need the help of Ukraine, Latvia, and Moldova in the Iraq war. They went there to learn.
The Middle East has been the largest playground for the world's armies.
When I was reading about Internet censorship in Iran and what they have done in recent years, it made me think of WhatsApp.
They have blocked most of the popular messaging platforms including Telegram long time ago but for some reason they have not blocked WhatsApp.
Since the current round of protests in Iran started in mid-September, they also blocked WhatsApp, but only because they don't want people organizing, discussing and sharing in groups. Basically everything is blocked now and this new development is most likely a temporary thing until they can handle the protests.
But isn't the fact that they haven't blocked WhatsApp in these years suspicious? Maybe they have access to NSO's Pegasus spyware or something similar. I don't think NSO would sell it to Iran considering NSO is an Israeli company, but they could still do it by using a middleman and not letting NSO know who the real customer is. Or maybe they developed a similar tool themselves because they have the motivation and the money to buy the information even if they are not capable to find it themselves.
- Russia's intelligence can't compete with all the intelligence and counterintelligence that multiple more capable countries are providing to Ukraine. Not to mention that all those intelligence sources are not target-able by Russia obviously because they don't want to fight NATO directly. So Russia can't even exhaust those intelligence resources.
- Ukraine is a huge country and they are doing a good job defending their critical assets and don't forget they have best in class training and intelligence to help them just do that.
- Russia has destroyed many military targets during the conflicts. Obviously both sides lie about their casualties.
- Ukraine is backed by west and receives new supplies every day. Much more than publicized. The 12 HIMARS is not real. The actual figures are never shared, as it would be too foolish to give such information to the enemy.
People on both sides of this debate are exploited by the war propaganda that both sides push.
It doesn't matter which side you stand on today, if you think the solution to this problem is war instead of negotiation and peace, you are being abused by everything you read and hear.
UX is garbage on Teams. Specially for chat compared to something like Slack.
Video calls, I can live with it even though I prefer Zoom and Google Meet over Teams.
If a company uses Teams for anything more than video call, to me it's a sign that they don't care about productivity of their employees.
What a headache it causes in the world. I don't think anyone can measure the total cost of lost productivity in Europe, just people who read the news and worry. Sad.
