HN was - and probably still is - very negative to Bitcoin. Which always puzzled me. But I’ve realized: To grasp such concepts, you can’t only be good at code.

Yes, the question is whether you want to share knowledge that cost you literally nothing, and will bring humanity one microscopic step in a better direction - or not, feeling superior in that only you have access to that knowledge.

I'm just trying to catch up with you after the "I get so confused on this"-screenshot that's evidently going viral wrt. LLMs. I just turned 50, and that resonated so hard.
Wrt. this feeling you're describing here: You might mostly be feeling the Enshittification. At least that's a big thing for me. Companies are not making things better, they are making everything worse. Instead of actually making new stuff, they're wringing the existing lemon five extra times to squeeze that last drop of juice out of it, adding one extra ad in the youtube viewing, making it harder to integrate. APIs being deprecated, walled gardens. Things have been going downhill for at least a decade. This makes me sad.
A tad surprised that curvature isn't discussed? With such a massive screen, the distance from your eye to the middle of the screen, and eye to the corners, are very different - unless you sit far away. Your eyes thus need to change focus all the time. That's AFAIK why those ultra wide screens are curved - and I find that the more curve they have (smaller radius), the better it is. With such a massive screen, I guess it would be best if it was part of a sphere! (Curved both ways)
A bit light on the detail of how the standard green-screen process works in post: I'd prefer a bit deeper dive into the problems one encounter. And then compared harder to how this became easier with the sodium lights, compare and contrast. I think that was glossed over too fast. Otherwise really interesting!
I thought this was obvious: They lack an “inner voice” (80% of humans?) or “inner imagery” (the rest) as we humans do, so they cannot first think the problem through before answering. Thus, using the actual “output area” as such a scratch pad can help it cover a larger area of reasoning before outputting an answer - just as we do.
I feel you can even see this when you ask it certain questions with “think in steps” prompting: It can output temporary thoughts which aren’t of use in the final answer - again just as we do when attacking a problem we can’t immediately answer.
Also, we humans often use pen and paper to jot down temporary and intermediary thoughts and answers. Again, LLMs don’t have that, but can use the output as something similar.
Some styles of ToT prompting actually make the LLM have two types of output - one for its “inner voice thinking”, and then another for output meant for the human. The same goes when one give the LLM method calling abilities, or “googling”: This can be seen as a way to perform thinking and reasoning without output meant for the user, before formulating an answer.
You should probably post some citations to that. Tether most probably have backing for every single dollar they have, and then plenty more. What about it is “blood money”?
While I agree there is a common understanding of what open source is, there most definitely does not exist any "binding definition"! It is not trademarked, copyrighted (and it never could have been, two common words that it is), or in any country's legally protected terms, or anything else. It is really grating to see such nonsense repeated way to often.
