Any apparent causality of age of acquisition seems to be a proxy of hours of exposure. It may well be that it is easier for young people to rack up a lot of exposure to a second language, but not much evidence that age plays much of a factor for people of different ages who had the same degree of exposure.
“There’s no end in sight. Electronic photography will soon be superior to anything we have now. The first advance will be the exploration of existing negatives. I believe the electronic process will enhance them. I could get superior prints from my negatives using electronics.
“Then the time will come when you will be able to make the entire photograph electronically. With the extremely high resolution and enormous control you can get from electronics, the results will be fantastic. I wish I were young again!”
Diseases like this typically internally spread out along the ophthalmic division of the fifth (trigeminal) cranial nerve, having breached the blood-barrier rather than the blood-ocular barrier.
To have it show up in the eye repeatedly may simply indicate it’s travelled back down the nerve.
The pathway is not even rare, so I wonder what is newsworthy here. e.g. 500k Americans live with herpes simplex keratitis (or “eye herpes”) though many don’t realise, and you don’t see that on HN frontpage.
It’s a shame to see such important data, much submitted by the public to this charity, somewhat locked away. No API or downloadable dataset but to their credit you can apply for access: “The Ancient Tree Inventory dataset is available upon request. If you would like to access the data please get in touch.” I can imagine all sorts of great visualisation and insight within the data.
Yes, the vicious lawsuit by chiropractors may have been enough to turn him off publishing. I sometimes hear him as a radio guest. It seems he went on to work on STEM policy and founded a couple of educational math paths. It’s a shame he seems to have discarded his website.
I thought the point was the post incident phone could have been placed in the bag in case of flare up, rather than require an attendant with an extinguisher?
I run several self built Air Gradients on ESPHome and they do not connect to the cloud - or any external service. Works well with HA. Rock solid for 2+ years. I have to reboot them every 6-9mo or so if they “freeze”.
Perhaps it is your IP range? Do you have the same problem on mobile and broadband?
