Your house does not have an active market. It's not listed on an exchange. You can't sell "part" of it. Your house doesn't have a value until it's sold because it's unique.
Also, to most people, your house is your HOME. Treating it like an asset is rather silly in the first place.

If that person suddenly stopped contributing anything to society and took out 'loans' on his $10m rock to finance the rest of his life, never paying any taxes ever again and contributing nothing but holding a rock.. perhaps yeah, he should be taxed on it.
If you aren't worried about losing your assets that blockchain is great. You can misplace your key, someone can steal from you, and no one can fix it for you.

There's a reason banks, exchanges, clearing brokers, etc all exist. It might cost money and have redtape up the wazoo but you cannot argue it makes it so you basically don't have to ever worry about a thing with your money/portfolio etc.
Well.. I think the difference is that if there are literally millions of people immediately acting in a certain fashion (suddenly buying up a specific stock) in a coordinate fashion- that has a very different effect than a small number of large investors taking a bet.
I'm not defending the bullshit that is CNBC and 'professional stock pickers' and crap, but it ends up to be a very different thing. Not saying better or worse, but certainly different.
Look- I get what you are saying and yes I am concerned about it, but on the other hand, it's not always MY job to fix the problem.
It's like tipping in restaurants. I HATE TIPPING. Just put the freakin price all-in on the mneu. I don't want to play this stupid game where the server tries to act nice to get a tip. Just do your job. I do my job all day long without any tips. I'm nice to people and do my best. The service industry is no different- just do your job. Tip jar for handing me a donut or pouring me coffee? Sorry what?
So unfortunately for me- grocery delivery is the same. Just show me what it costs and I will make the decision to pay or not. Costco upped their prices online to say they are able to pay their people a living wage? Great! That's what I'm paying. Walmart doesn't change them online? Ok I'm not sure how works on their side, but I'm paying what they say it costs.
It's not MY JOB as the consumer to make up the shortfall that companies are not giving. You know who's job it is? First, the government- if we provided basic things like healthcare for all, required paid time off, and then you mix in a reasonable minimum wage- most of the issues are solved right there. Then it's up to the company to take care of their employees and make sure they are being paid a reasonable amount.
I'm sick of being told I have to make up the shortfall with tips for everything.
Having used instacart (through Costco) and walmart grocery delivery almost exclusively for the past 10 months.. I'm more amazed at how cheap it is, and I'm a bit worried that employees are not getting paid enough.
Costco is probably the more 'reasonable' one. They mark up the products probably 5-10%. So this one I feel that the delivery people are probably being paid ok.. although my nearest costco is 16 miles away (about 25min).. so it kind of feels like a steal to be able to get delivery from them for what feels like not a whole lot more.
Walmart is closer, but there are no markups.. and I pay whatever $10/mo for free delivery from them. Order multiple times a month.
I'm honestly not sure I'm going to go back to the stores as often even when things are normal.
Aren't there some amazon tribes that have basically had no contact with the modern world? By your logic, we are under an ethical obligation to go in and "modernize them".

To everyone saying they want to completely move away from google.. To me one of the biggest things is the convenience of random sites that I can create an account with one click linked to my google account.
People seem to really really underestimate the power of that.
Like during this last year of craziness, my kids both have google accounts on chrome so when we find new random websites for learning that I want them to have accounts with, they have all had google click to signin. I probably wouldn't have even bothered with various places if they didn't have that. For my kids being able to visit 5+ sites regularly and the worst that happens is they have to re-login by clicking 'login with google' cannot be understated.
I think that's a good thing though. The last thing I want is dropbox to 'innovate'. They are already trying too hard by forcing you to have windows explorer integration which slows the crap out of my machine.
I am overall very happy with Dropbox and we use them because of what they are- a file syncing company. If they become more, it will surely be at the expense of simple file syncing which is all I want from them.
OneDrive probably works just fine for a personal setting with limited files.
But as of about two years ago when we tried to migrate to it for business purposes.. it was an insane nightmare. It simply could not handle a filesystem with a few hundred thousand files AT ALL.
I think this was still at the time where OneDrive Business was technically a different product than OneDrive personal, and some bastardization with SharePoint (which I know nothing about).
But anyway- unless things have changed, OneDrive Business is not usable with a large amount of files.
Dropbox has been rock solid for years with a LOT of files. Although, recently I have been experiencing issues where dropbox just keeps getting stuck and has to be restarted. I also loathe their windows explorer integration.

Let's be realistic here though. The ONLY reason "insurrection" was even close to being on the table is because of the delusional rantings of the President for the last two months (and everything leading up to that.. but that's a different discussion).
This entire election fraud thing is absolute insanity, and anyone who was paying attention saw this coming months before the election with how he was setting everything up to look like if Trump didn't win- it had to be fraud.
So my point is, no one is trying to "stop the possibility of insurrection". They are trying to actively say: 'I am not supporting giving you a platform to spout insane lies anymore, because it has and could cause real measurable harm".
