I think it's also probably an issue of trust. If someone isn't in front of you banging on their keyboard you have no assurance that they're actually doing work.

Password managers usually have a way to add serial numbers or secure notes, that's where I store mine. And you should be using a password manager anyway, if you aren't already.
It's possible to reflash the firmware in DFU mode, but it requires erasing the data on the phone. Or more technically, there's an encryption key in storage that needs to be regenerated to give access to the filesystem, but that encryption key (in conjunction with the hardware key in the Secure Enclave and the user's passcode, if set) is also necessary to read any user data on the phone.
The only way to bypass the brute forcing delay would be to increase computing power, since it's a function of the encryption method used. It basically goes through a number of iterations chosen to make it take about 80 ms per attempt.

It's impossible to update the firmware without both pieces of information or erasing the device, and on A7 or later processors the unlock attempt delay is a direct result of the method of encryption used and tied to the hardware so it must be performed on the device itself.
It would mean that there are a lot more black holes in our local group, which could be a little concerning.

From what I understand, it doesn't really matter because the laser light acts as a coherent wave, so it doesn't really bounce off of individual atoms, per se. As long as the mirrors are flat, all that matters is the relative distance between the mirrors.
Put another way, aside from the possible "instantaneous influence" exception above, there are no "hidden variables" or mechanisms under the surface that we just haven't figured out yet. At that level it is truly probabilistic.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for one or two people to take my spot at my current company.
They have treated me super great, and I was super lucky to find this job in the first place, but I just recently got even luckier and am moving on to a new opportunity.
Ok so first I'm looking for a full-time, in house Senior Rails Developer with strong JavaScript skills (or decent JavaScript skills and the ability to catch up quickly). The job mostly entails maintaining and adding features to three in-house developed Rails apps that process stock data and provide business intelligence for the company. It's very interesting stuff, and you'll learn a lot about the stock market. You'll be working directly with the CEO and management team, and they're very pleasant to work with as a developer (they communicate well, they have reasonable expectations, and you'll have pretty much full autonomy regarding coding decisions). The pay is great, and the office is downtown. You get your own office, parking is included, and everyone at the company is great to work with. The company is also super generous with vacation time—we get about a month of paid time off around the end-of-year holidays, in addition to the regular vacation benefits and paid time off on market holidays.
It would be awesome if the person taking over my job also has decent desktop support and network skills, but if not we need a freelancer or IT support company who can be on call for that kind of stuff. Mostly it involves setting up Google Apps accounts, installing Office 365, and things like that. There's occasionally some harder stuff like opening up firewall ports, forwarding ports, troubleshooting videoconferencing equipment, and things like that.
