The LLMs are better at enforcing their boundaries than developers. Run out of tokens? That's it. No more code. It doesn't care how much the company needs this for the customer call tomorrow.
I imagine everyone has a point at which they feel a movement has pushed its rhetoric just that bit too far. When one takes a lofty and high-minded position, one can find oneself exposed to ridicule.
In case it helps the authentic human connection: I too wrote this with my human hands and did not use AI.
It has taken LLMs to encourage companies to prioritise a clean codebase, tickets with unambiguous context and examples of what is right and wrong when onboarding new team members.
This is interesting in light of the discussion on hacker news yesterday, where folk were talking about how they had to learn how to make games work on early PCs, given limitations that aren't present to the young today.
Motivated kids can find a way! Perhaps evading age gates will produce the next generation of hackers.
