There seems to be an unfair comparison between the various network architectures. The reported speed and accuracy improvements should be taken with a bit of scepticism for two reasons.
* This is the first yolo implemented in Pytorch. Pytorch is the fastest ml framework around, so some of YOLOv5's speed improvements may be attributed to the platform it was implemented on rather than actual scientific advances. Previous yolos were implemented using darknet, and EfficientDet is implemented in TensorFlow. It would be necessary to train them all on the same platform for a fair speed comparison.
* EfficientDet was trained on the 90-class COCO challenge (1), while YOLOv5 was trained on 80 classes (2).
You mostly have a presentation problem if you have marketable skills that won't sell. I started when I was 15 and the trick was displaying confidence, humility, and maturity in every interaction. It's harder than it sounds.
There's a meetup for your favorite JS library here, but I haven't found a group that I deeply enjoy going to yet. The challenge has been finding the right proportions of casualness, skill, and drive to actually build something in a group.
I'm not far from Stanford, so I would also be interested in a good answer to this.

I don't see how any of these points directly threaten piketty's conclusion, that "r > g is a force for divergence," at least as they are presented here.
The first counterargument is nothing new. It's in the Solow model for Pete's sake! It only threatens the returns to capital as a theoretical conclusion in the distant, long-run future (going off the Solow model). Piketty has made an empirical argument off historical data.
The second paragraph saying most of r has come from capital gains in the financial market just looks silly before the one saying most of capital gains has been from an appreciation in land value. I don't know if that is how the original argument goes.
