This title should have a (2019) on it. But I was happy to see this pop up again here, as it’s an increasingly possible and compelling UX for AI agents, where the rest of the chrome and complexity of computing is stripped away to the core actions we really need out of the software we use.
I hope they give this a fresh look and try building it. Lindy looks like a close attempt
It is happening now, which is one of the points of this piece. Apple has been laying the groundwork bit by bit since 2019, but there’s also lots of AR today, just not in “the metaverse” sense as discussed here quite yet. Snapchat filters, AirTags and UWB, and Google Lens are some of the most popular examples right now. Anything that adds a digital layer to the physical world via a computing device, is AR.
Thanks for linking. I was hoping it had some kind of sea urchin-style mouth that ate up the roots of the weeds, but it's just a tiny weed wacker underneath. Still cute
5G is on the way, and will enable this stuff anywhere. MWC had tons of demos of 4k, multiplayer, and VR games streaming via 5G. A lot depends on how/when/if it's all rolled out, but unless you're currently 194 years old, it's gonna be a lot sooner than you think.
Roadmap is exactly what I've been wanting in Jira for years, and have either convinced devs to build for me at internal hackathons, or hacked together myself, or bastardized in Google sheets. Can't wait to try this!
I got my current job from a 'Who is Hiring' post, so clearly it worked for someone! It's not a replacement for a solid recruiting team/funnel, but having been on both sides of the process I found it a useful resource. FWIW.
Not trying to troll you, but this isn’t exactly the best forum for this kind of question. Talk to your pediatrician about speech therapy or whatever, don’t ask a technology forum.
Agree overall, but there are a LOT of other employers in Seattle, including lots of the big guys. In general, a layoff would be similar to the bay area experience for a talented dev.
Reminds me of parts of photosynth[1], glad to see people are still working on this kind of thing. Was very disappointed that photosynth didn't really pan out with building 3d models off the images, they went with just panoramas.
Lots of opportunities to work on large scale projects on some of the worlds largest adult sites. I'm a new PM on the team, found the job through HN, and can answer questions about the process and team. My team specifically needs a Senior PHP Developer and Marketing, but many teams working on lots of cool stuff with ML, VR, crypto, and more!
Idea is to add a lot more NSFW stuff like sexy avatars and mocap animations, cinematic controls, even a marketplace of content and assets.
