So much misinformation in this thread. H1B's don't get paid lower. Law requires that they be paid market wage and no native workers are being undercut.
If you see this happening, then you can actually report it to DoL (I have had a call from a DoL investigator about H1B abuse at a past employer based on a complaint filed by an employee).
You are wrong on that. A company I worked for was investigated after a complain about H1B process. I actually had an investigator call me asking all kinds of questions. They do take complaints about H1B abuse seriously.
Lack of evidence is not evidence of falsehood. Strong magnetic fields can make you forget things. No one know what sort of effect wrought by weak EM radiation exposure over decades. Some of us would like to err on the side of caution, if feasible. Just like GMO and organic food.
Are deep neural networks really that widely applicable that it's profitable to design custom chips for them? What about other models of AI that involve, say, discrete math or graph search?
Because most of the benefits of the former are getting concentrated into the hands of educated and urban dwellers. So people want change, but end up stupidly sabotaging.
