For a long time, Android has been the only major OS unable to resolve mDNS .local hostnames. However, it seems that this feature has been silently added very recently on Android 12.

Doesn't look like there is any official announcement, but there was a 2019 feature request where lately some users started writing to inform that their Android 12 devices now successfully resolve .local addresses:
