To scan the files in your folder like that you can use quicklook. Just press space to open the first one and use the arrows to navigate. Another super power of macOS.
I switched from windows to Mac in 2005 and find macOS second nature now.
Finder is getting a lot of heat here, but I live it’s simplicity. Column view is the best view, quick look is amazing and I don’t know how one can live without it on other OSes. I know a million tricks but one that I see as really superior is how you can drag a folder to a save menu in order to quickly access it to save the file. Also macOS is smart enough to have two files with the same name open. And you can even move them while open.
One feature I believe not many people use but I can’t go by without is active corners. It just makes Mac OS so fluid with your mouse, it’s a beauty.
They are really beautiful mouses. I own all except the Apple pro mouse (which is identical to Apple mouse). Loved the clack clicking of the Apple mouse and what a design piece it still is. The Mighty Mouse was an improvement in usability but looked bland in comparison, and the ball would gunk up. Magic Mouse is perfect. But it’s very common to see hate for it. I loved that design era at Apple. White and transparent plastic like the cube, first iPod, lamp iMac! Iconic.
Maybe if we could buy shares of Earth there would be some economic value in preserving the well being and environment. How could one put economic value in preservation instead of exploration?
This is one of many features i much appreciate in Mac OS X. Active corners is another powerful features that makes window managing and file moving a bliss. I find macOS much stickier than iOS. I can go without my iPad but not without my mac.
I agree That thanks to Apple now we expect beautiful electronics, and even the most oblivious to Apple person benefits from it. It took a very very long time for the industry to take note and pick up the pace. Now that it kind of did, I think people disregard Apple as the originator. But worse than that is seeing Apple blowing its own horn, not with this book which is kind of cool to buy (even if strange coming from them) but from their recent marketing and celebratory moves.
I signed up for Apple Music but returned to Spotify because it's just simpler and more pleasant to use the Mac app instead of iTunes, and the iOS app works better for me with its "recently played" list that allows me to better return to recent discoveries.
Apple Music fails becaus it's not magical like the iPod was versus the competition. It's a complicated player.
I believe Apple Music should be more like Google for music. A big search button and a recently played music easily accessible, also publicly playable widgets so you could share music on the web instead of resorting to YouTube.
The overlap with the long press, and uses they got for it are not compelling.
It should be a way to displace content and move it to other apps, for example. Or to pierce through the lock screen to command a running app (like Spotify). Or to pierce the simple interface of an app to access advanced features or something. Just thinking out loud.
I'm usually an early adopter, and was for fb, but recently I noticed my life is much better without fb/messenger/Instagram on my phone. It's been 6 months and whenever I go to fb web to check out I have hundreds of notifications and messages, but never once lost something truly important. They have my number for that. I sense a social media burn out on a lot of people lately. We're not built for this crazy amount of interactions on a single day.
