Great Work. I love these posts on HN where people show case what they hacked on during the weekend. These are the real "builders" or creators out there. And about the negative guys, believe me they have probably never created anything in their life, so don't bother!
I have used Pylons, Tornado and Brubeck in my projects over last couple of years and I must say if you are an experienced developer in Python, brubeck is a very good candidate. It is built for scalability in mind from day one. It is very light weight from code perspective and has a very transparent design which is very easy to understand to dive deeper if you need to.
I agree, it is nothing different than syslog if all you want to do is just dump all logs in one file. But one advantage of this approach in our case was that we wanted to show last 1000 critical logs on a web interface and with logs stored in redis, it was pretty easy to do that. And as redis was part of our stack, it was very easy to hook it up for this specific task.
