How the hell does this Nick Starr loser keep getting media coverage. It's too bad he didn't go through with one of his threatened suicide attempts several years back. This little fag just screams for attention all the time and it's unclear why he gets ANY media coverage ever. Didn't realize he ever left SF. Anyone who's ever had the change to cross paths with this loser knows exactly what I'm talking about. And yes, Google glass is a DOA product for replacing cellphones because of the social awkwardness that arises. Leave it for the doctors, drivers, etc. But I refuse to talk to anyone at a party that's wearing that fucking thing.

How about we fix the broken, corrupt stock system by making everything trade like mutual funds.... only EOD. There's way more value being stolen or lost than created with the way the market has progressed. We'd all be better off if a "slow Wall St." movement took hold and eliminated all the skimmers out there that are stealing from the majority.

Sorry kids, he's dead on balls accurate with his posting. I've been saying the same thing for years to startups that want to hire me. Risk/reward makes no sense for anyone but founders. The only way is if you're pretty sure they'll get acquired and you get a good bump in comp. from it. Otherwise nobody senior level should be working for any of these startups today. Go look at AngelList and see how pathetic these offers are for senior level people. Offers for the same money I made in 2000. Talent shortage my ass. More like moron that's a good developer shortage.

Feeling better everyday about bailing on the whole startup world and taking a job at a giant tech company. Way less stress, more money, time, and freedom.

Eff YC and eff the startups that are continually lowballing developer talent.

Wow, and I thought I was the only one that was thinking the emperor had no clothes but was missing something by not jumping on the client MVC bandwagon. All I saw was tons of extra complexity with very little payback for most apps.

Most popular language in the world... trillions of dollars of value created by it... pretty sure "colossal failure" is near the bottom of things you can say about Java. Hey TS all you Java haters, Sun did a good job of marketing the language and the cross platform vision resonated and guess what... the libraries,though not perfect, were pretty well designed. As someone that got sick of Java in 2005 and lashed out against it as well, only now, after 7 years of working in webapps using rails and JS can I appreciate the good things that came with the Java ecosystem, namely a pretty good VM, good docs, less fanboy fashionism, and stack traces that actually helped you for the most part. Javascript is going to be the "winner" for the next 5-10 years (or longer), but it's only because of the browser. The language itself is so full of junk that it really needs to be rebuilt with backwards compatibility not taken into account IMHO.

yawn solution looking for a problem just like Square's cardcase app... my keys work just fine and the security hole opened by putting my home lock on the internet is not something I'd feel comfortable with. Just like I don't want to "pay with my name" at the coffee shop. All these projects intended to save me seconds of time.. yawn

"I don't think rent control has much to do with the rents here." You are out of your mind. There is so much supply that is completely held off the market for decades because of this law. I'm a renter and have lived in SF for over 12 years and I can tell you that this law, along with Prop 13, needs to go away. It's completely constraining supply as there are tons of $700/month 2bdrm apartments in this city and many of them get handed down (I almost got one myself). If rents floated freely, like property taxes should too.. sure prices would go up for a bit but there'd be a normal balance of supply and demand and prices would likely be lower than they are today because now there isn't a small subset of people subsidizing the majority of rent controlled apartment dwellers... and yes I live in a rent controlled 1bdrm in Russian Hill that's $1,600 including parking.

Can someone here just say "fuck this bitch" and call it a day? When the hell are we going to realize that the whole thing pretty much boils down to luck.... where you went to school... who you know... that's it. She's no smarter than anyone on this site, yet she's valued at 100x or more than most anyone here. Why she's looked at as some sort of sage is beyond me.
